Internet Dial-up Setup Information

Windows 98, ME and 2000

  1. Click on Start. Go up to Programs, then Accessories and Communications. Click on Internet Connection Wizard.
  2. Click on "I want to set up my connection manually". Click Next.
  3. Click on "Connect through a phone line and modem". Click Next.
  4. Enter access number without the area code. Uncheck "Use area code and dialing rules". Click Next.
  5. Enter username and password in all small letters. Click Next.
  6. Leave connection name as Connection to…. Click Next.
  7. If you want to set up an email account, click Yes and Next. If no email account is needed click No and Finish.
  8. Enter Display Name. Click Next.
  9. Enter email address. Click Next.
  10. Leave mail server as Pop3 and enter mail.jbntelco.com or mail.giantcomm.net as incoming and outgoing email servers. Click Next.
  11. Enter password. Click Next.
  12. Click Finish.
Windows XP
  1. Click on Start. Go up to Programs, then Accessories and Communications. Click on New Connection Wizard. Click Next.
  2. Click on "Connect to the Internet". Click Next.
  3. Click on "Set up my connection manually". Click Next.
  4. Click on "Connect using a dialup modem". Click Next.
  5. Type Internet as ISP name. Click Next.
  6. Enter access number without the area code. Click Next.
  7. Enter username and password in all small letters. Leave checkmarks in all boxes. Click Next.
  8. Click to put a checkmark in "Add a shortcut to my Desktop". Click Finish.
Windows XP users will need to open Outlook Express to set up an email account.
  1. Click on Tools and then on Accounts.
  2. Click on the Mail Tab.
  3. Click on Add and choose Mail.
  4. Enter Display Name. Click Next.
  5. Enter email address. Click Next.
  6. Leave mail server as Pop3 and enter mail.jbntelco.com or mail.giantcomm.net as incoming and outgoing email servers. Click Next.
  7. Enter password. Click Next.
  8. Click Finish.

Minimum System Requirements

The following are the minimum system requirements for internet access through Giant's service. While other configurations may work, this is the minimum requirement supported by Giant Communications.

  • IBM Compatible PC
  • Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition or newer windows operating system.
  • 233Mhz or faster CPU
  • 128MB or greater of RAM
  • Working 10/100 NIC
  • Operating system disks may be required for some operating systems.
